Intuition & Energy Medicine is considered a sub-profession of  Integrative and Complementary Medicine, and is not yet well known in mainstream American society.  Aspects of Intuition & Energy Medicine include spiritual, energetic, and physiologic orientations, or a combination of all of these components.  The practice is varied, largely self-defined by its practitioners.  Just as Western Allopathic and Eastern Oriental Medicine exist, so do different modalities of Intuition & Energy Medicine.

In the United States (US), Intuition & Energy Medicine is primarily found in private practice settings.  In the European Union (EU), Intuition & Energy Medicine is practiced commonly in hospital settings, focusing on the physiologic application of the profession.
